Community Visits and Cultural Exchange Cusco
Trip Overview
Highlights
Live a beautiful experience during the cultural exchange in Cusco, get to know and experience the daily life of the native inhabitants in the Peruvian Andes.
Cusco is known worldwide for having one of the wonders of the modern world “the majestic Machu Picchu“. But it also has a rich and colorful culture of respect for nature, the Apus and wildlife. And perhaps it is the friendliness and customs that really captivate its visitors, because it is very common to see people kindly helping tourists without distinguishing race, economy or origin. In Cusco everyone is welcome!
Our immersion travel experiences allow travelers to witness and experience the culture and heritage of the places and people they visit, whether through art, folklore, music, rituals (Ayahuasca retreats) or other aspects. Although the cultural activities we organize may be less physically demanding, they are nevertheless very exciting.
Maybe you are only planning private tours in the sacred valley, travelling to Machu Picchu by bus. You have no idea of the wonderful adventures you can experience thanks to experiential tourism and cultural exchange in Cusco. While traveling by train to Machu Picchu or by taxi to Ollantaytambo, you will only see through the window a little of the beautiful landscapes that the land of the Incas offers, not counting the possibility of meeting new friends who live in communities outside the city.
All those who had the opportunity to visit Andean communities, took with them beautiful memories and many of them mentioned that “it was one of the best experiences they had during their visit to Cusco”.
During the visits to the native communities you can live experiences such as: work in the fields, celebrations, traditional medicine, ceremonies such as the offering to mother earth, preparation of delicious vegetable-based stews and very colorful and fun traditional festivities.

Tour Plan
Ocutuan Village
Ocutuan Village is located at nearly 13,000 ft. abs in the Central Andes over the popular town of Chinchero. Only 55 minutes away from the city of Cusco, this charming and authentic village of avid farmers and textile workers, welcomes visitors who wish to participate in and learn about their chores, customs and traditions. Take care of the animals, harvest potatoes, dye wool, or learn their particular art of knitting techniques.
Transportation to and from Ocutuan village is included in the Cusco Community Tour, as well as a top quality guide to accompany you on your experience. You will interact with the adults and children of the community to learn how they live, and to exchange experiences.
The people of Ocutuan would appreciate your bringing school supplies and/or personal care items to donate to the community, as they are very poor and have very limited access to these types of items.
Note: This Cusco Community Exchange may be combined with a tour of the Chinchero Archeological site a full day excursion.
