Overview

The sacred valley route is one of the most popular routes in the region. The sacred valley of the Incas was a crucial area for the Inca Empire and functioned as an agricultural, spiritual and political center for them. Along its extension, there are many Inca and pre-Inca sites that can be found and the tour of the sacred valley visits the 3 main sites, Pisac, Ollantaytambo and Chinchero.

For a full day, you will appreciate the excellent handicrafts that the Incas produced and see the beautiful landscapes of the sacred valley.

Chinchero

The small rustic town of Chinchero is located on the main road between Cusco and Urubamba. It is 3762 m above sea level, so it is higher than Cusco. It is dominated by the Vilcabamba mountain range and the snowy peak in Salcantay. This small city is missed by many, but it has some interesting places for visitors to see. There is a large sample of Inca architectures and megalithic carved rocks. Chinchero lives up to the famous Peruvian fabric and also has a colorful market. It is much smaller than the Pisac we offer two beautiful crafts. A beautiful adobe church sits in the square, which can be visited daily. Chinchero is also believed to be the birthplace of the rainbow.

Pisaq

The town of Pisac (Pisaq in the native Quechua language) lies 32 km, approx. 30 minutes from Cusco, in the Sacred Valley of the Incas right along the Río Vilcanota also known as the Urubamba River. The town itself hosts a famous market frequented by most visitors to the Sacred Valley on Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday mornings, selling hand-painted ceramics and other handicrafts, as well as fruit and vegetables on Sundays. The other main attraction in Pisac is the stunning Pisac Archaeological Site which, perched atop a peak overlooking the town of Pisac stretch for 7km making for a nice morning of sightseeing with stunning views of the surrounding Andes Mountains.

Not just a guide, they are family.
This past month I had the pleasure to go to Peru with a group of 12 friends to experience the beauty of Perus Sacred Valley. This was more than a tour, it was a journey of self-discovery that would not have been the same experience without the guidance of Puma and his incredible team Eddy, Edgar, Sergio, Rebi, Jemmi, willi, Reuben, marina, jose Luis, and the cooking team. Not only did they take us to some of the most breath taking and magical places, they took immaculate care, support, protection, and thoughtfulness into every step of the trip. I have immense love, and respect for the team at pumadventures for making this girl feel like a princess every step of the way. Thank you!
